Take me out to the ballgame...

We went out to a Beaver's (minor league) game tonight. We forgot the camera (of course) so no great photos or anything, but a little write up at least.

We HARDLY watched the game. We took Caitlin's little friend Margaux (and Margaux's Dad - Paul- came as well), so we ended up dividing our time between keeping them occupied (chasing them down or bouncy castle in the Kidz Zone), and getting food. Isn't that always the way it is? I couldn't even tell you what the score was, who was winning, or which team was actually the Beavers (navy uniforms or white? who knows?). It was entertaining. The seats were about 1/40th full (if that) and we ended up sitting up on the picnic tables by the fence. At one point, there was a foul ball (but grounder) and the team guy that fielded it threw it up to the stands where we were sitting. It about hit a poor old guy in a wheelchair (wouldn't that have been a fiasco?), and two kids ended up getting it. I could have taken them both down and gotten the ball, but I restrained myself. = )

Anyway, it was fun and enlightening. I doubt we will do it again until the kiddos are older. Luckily, we got to use our Entertainment book coupons, so the tickets were all half price. There are some benefits to that book. Sure wish we had brought the camera. What am I gonna' fill this blog with, my own jibber jabber and no photos. Can't imagine anyone is going to read it then. Until next time, with a camera!

Crazy Hats

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

What happens when the family has been inside too long due to relentless rain? Photo shoots, that's what! We went and found our craziest hats and each tried on a different one. I had to take the photos, so I didn't get to be in on the shots. My subjects sure did pose well though, didn't they?

Roughin' It

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Well, to all those that know me, I'm here to tell you I won't be put in a BOX! ha, ha Last week, Brian, Caitlin, Cody and I went camping. I'm not talkin' MY idea of camping (camper, running water, bathrooms, showers, campsites close to each other so you can smell what's grillin'), nope, I'm talkin' Brian's idea of camping. It's called "Roughin' It." Yep, caps and all. He wants us to go out into the woods (where there might be bears), pop a tent, sleep on the ground, roast all food over a campfire, and maybe fish a line or two in a nearby stream or river. That sounds all nice and rustic, but sometimes falls short of fun when you have a 3 year old, a 7 month old and two dogs that bark at everything that moves.

I shouldn't complain. It wasn't all bad. I do like hotdogs burned over an open fire. I LOVE (all caps for sure) s'mores. Plus, being near a running stream has always had a nice soothing effect on my senses. It was fun to bond as a family, even though Brian spent a LOT of time hunting for wood pieces that weren't wet, to keep our campfire blazing away. (One time to the luck of our dog, Casey, who snuck our breakfast sausage.) We went on a short hike down the logging road and the scenery was fantastic!
It was a good time. Caitlin and Cody seemed to take it all very well. I think the hardest part was waking up and turning over right into the WET side of the tent. Really not a good feeling when you are tired and grumpy from sleeping on the hard ground. But, all in all, we had fun and that's why we did it. Enjoy the photos!
